Rachel Horton

My work consists of designing and sculpting three-dimensional characters made from polymer clay sculpted around a wire armature. The characters produced are set into an environment with lighting and then photographed. As my work is predominantly character based I find it important that I catch the personality of the individual character whilst maintaining a sympathetic approach to the characterisation. Subtle humour, attention to detail and exploring the effects of space and lighting on my work are all factors which help me to create an intriguing and appealing image.
